It was 2017.
First spurned by a friend who proclaimed that she would never eat at hawker centers, 3 foodie friends began a passion project determined at changing the perception of our beloved local hawker food. Combining their skills of media photography and food design, Dabaogram was born.
Numerous dabaos and countless more food makeovers later, Dabaogram achieved their first 1,000-followers milestone after 24 weeks.
Since then, collaborations with commercial partners and government agencies have helped this fledgling label of love in their pursuit of elevating and preserving local hawker fare.
Dabaogram’s effervescent flair for capturing the gastronomy within the takeaway culinary soon grew into a platform much larger than itself. Dabaogram soon realized the potential of engaging a whole new generation of younger hawker-fare armchair critics and raise awareness of our local food heritage.
As the world continues its endless quest for the next big thing in the culinary circle, perhaps the next gem could be right beside your doorstep... just one dabao away.
Join us on a journey of rediscovery where we dabao and transform local hawker food into works of gastronomic art. Hawker food never looked this good!
We hope to raise awareness of Singapore rich hawker culture.
On a mission to support local hawker culture, 3 foodie friends with photography and creative food plating skills joined hands to freshen up the image of hawker food.

I had the opportunity to style and photograph a plate of nasi lemak at this year’s Singapore Heritage Festival (SHF) at Bedok, thanks to Daren Yap, Joshua Tan and Brian Don. They came up with the idea to start @Dabaogram, an Instagram account which brings a new light to familiar local fare through food styling and photography. The hawker food aficionados also share their favourite dishes with everyone by geo-tagging their photos to the stalls where the food was bought from, so more people will be encouraged to visit.” Grace Fu (Minister for Culture, Community and Youth )
